This graphic demonstrates 1. A class II disposal injection well on the left with "brine disposal" at the top. Note that the intention of this type of disposal well is not to dispose of oil field waste in a sealed and closed well, but to release the waste deep underground into a reservoir between confining formations. The waste does not remain inside the well.
