AB1301 the Bloom bill; AB1323 the Mitchell Bill; AB 649 penned by Assemblymbr Nazarian: have all passed Committee and will now head to the Legislature. Both bills call for a halt on fracking while the state studies the process and enacts regulations. The votes were straight down party lines, with the usual suspects out in support (Sierra Club, Center for Bio. Diversity, many moms, gardeners, grandmothers etc. Over 60 spoke in favor of the Bloom Bill) and in opposition: Western State Petroleum Association, California Independent Petroleum Association, An organization of food producers and the California Chamber of Commerce calls the notion of a moratorium on fracking a "job killer".
