11 new wells for Mirada - application complete & submitted
5 new wells for Venoco + 5 new in 2012 = 10 in under 12 mos
The application for Mirada has been completed, and went through the public hearing process last month. The planning director has it under review. It includes 9 new wells and 2 new exploratory wells.
The County approved 5 new wells for Venoco last year, and on the same CUP an application has been submitted, but deemed incomplete for an additional 5 wells. The County has requested more info from the applicant. According to the staff report for the 2012 wells they are to be directionally drilled to bottom hole locations 1,200 to 4,000 feet offshore.

All of the thus far approved wells have been approved without an environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Control Act (CEQA) because County planning staff determined that they would not have a significant effect on the environment.
